“State Senator’s Other Sister Lands Coveted Role on Port of NOLA’s Board”
For the women in the Carter political family, being appointed to positions in NOLA’s city government apparently comes along with the name recognition.
On November 5, 2019, “The NOLA Tabloid” reported on Louisiana State Senator Karen Carter Peterson’s younger sister, Eileen Carter, being appointed by Mayor Latoya Cantrell to the cushy position of City Hall’s social media manager. Senator Carter Peterson also serves as Chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party.
Those family ties may also help explain how Senator Carter Peterson’s other sister, Tara Hernandez, was appointed to the Board for the Port of New Orleans by Governor John Bel Edwards in 2016. Since her appointment in 2016, Hernandez was elected to the coveted position of Chair by her fellow Board commissioners on September 26, 2019.
Hernandez is a real estate developer and owns several New Orleans-based corporations including JCH Development, LLC. and other corporate spin-offs, such as, JCH Properties I, LLC., JCH Properties II, LLC., and JCH Capital Partners, LLC.
The core of Hernandez’s business focuses on converting underutilized real estate into residential, commercial, and mixed-use redevelopment projects.
