“Was Attorney Allison K. Nestor Pressured to Date a Federal Judge in 2014?”

On March 28, 2018, “The NOLA Tabloid” published an exclusive article titled, “Did U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel Knowles Pressure a Female Attorney to Date Him in 2014?” The article alleged at the time that an unnamed female attorney in New Orleans said that she was pressured to date Judge Knowles in 2014. “The NOLA Tabloid” is now ready to unmask the female attorney and identify her as Allison K. Nestor, based on an unnamed source.

According to the source, Nestor was co-counsel for the plaintiffs in a lucrative $2 million personal injury case filed in New Orleans federal court. The matter was allotted to Judge Knowles and he took a romantic interest in Nestor when she appeared before him in court. Nestor and Judge Knowles shared a mutual friend, the lead attorney in the case, who supposedly invested $80,000 of his own money in hiring expert witnesses to move the case forward towards trial.

Nestor stated to the unnamed source that she began receiving e-mails from Judge Knowles through her “gmail” account asking her out on a date. Nestor claimed that when she sought advice on what to do, the lead attorney in the case encouraged her to go out with Judge Knowles in order to help their case. Caught in the middle and under mounting pressure, Nestor gave in and allegedly met Judge Knowles alone for a romantic date at “Bon Temps” bar in downtown New Orleans.

Judge Knowles was so eager to impress Nestor that he even offered to have deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to his section of court pick her up and drop her off from their date so she wouldn’t have to worry about drinking and driving.

Nestor never said, according to the unnamed source, who “The NOLA Tabloid” will not identify, exactly what happened on their date or if there was any hanky-panky. The unnamed source claims that Nestor remarked how Judge Knowles ruled in the plaintiffs' favor time and time again following their date, and that he was instrumental in leveraging a successful settlement with the defense attorneys from the New Orleans law firm Gieger, Laborde & Laperouse, who were unaware of the shenanigans being played out of court.

After her date with Judge Knowles, Nestor expressed her confidence to the unnamed source that he would continue to make favorable rulings on her behalf and that his future decisions in the case were a foregone conclusion. And that is exactly what happened.

Prior to the plaintiffs being represented by Nestor and her co-counsels, they were represented by New Orleans personal injury attorney Michelle D. Robert. After the case was successfully settled in the plaintiffs’ favor, Robert filed a contentious Intervention in federal court to collect attorney’s fees owed to her during the course of her representation. Of course, Judge Knowles was to decide the Intervention matter and, out of a $2 million settlement, Robert was strong-armed and only awarded $965.25. Once again, Judge Knowles’ ruled in Nestor’s favor, as she had predicted. Robert was unaware of Nestor’s extracurricular activities and that the fix was in.

The source claims that Nestor continued to receive e-mails from Judge Knowles asking her out on other dates throughout the course of litigation. The source believes that Nestor in fact went out on multiple dates with Judge Knowles and began to enjoy the influence she wielded.

The source contends that Nestor’s financial situation greatly improved since she dated Judge Knowles. Supposedly, Nestor had struggled to pay rent for the office space she leased and would often times have to ask for an extension. Now, she lives in an exclusive high-rise apartment building in the CBD. Yet, it is unknown how much of the $2 million settlement Nestor received.

Today, Nestor still practices family and personal injury law out of a small downtown office. Knowles’ term as a U.S. magistrate judge expired in January of 2019, and he now works as a mediator in Baton Rouge for the arbitration firm Perry Dampf Dispute Solutions.
