“Threats Directed Towards Tulane’s Campuses & Hospital”
Tulane’s police force deals with a host of crimes committed at or near its Uptown campus, CBD hospital, and medical school. Many incidents include run-of-the-mill property crimes and disturbances. However, from 2017 – 2019, a flurry of threatening phone calls have been placed to Tulane’s campuses and hospital.
According to Tulane University Police Department’s online “crime log,” four incidents of telephoned threats, including one incident of terrorizing, have been reported by staff to police. So far, no cases have been solved and three remain open and active investigations. It is unknown if there are any suspects named or what their motivations may be.
The first incident, a telephone threat, took place Downtown at Tulane Hospital on July 7, 2017.
The second incident, described as terrorizing, took place 11-days later at Tulane’s medical school in the 1500 block of Poydras Street on July 18, 2017.
The third incident, a telephone threat, was directed towards Tulane police’s emergency dispatch center on September 22, 2018.
The fourth incident, another telephone threat, took place at Tulane’s Gibson Hall at its main campus on January 30, 2019.
