“T.V. Star Karrueche Tran Films ‘Claws’ Season 3 Episode in NOLA”

Though the show is set in a seedy town in Florida, the female cast of “Claws” descended on NOLA to film a season 3 episode. After surging in its ratings, TNT decided to produce another season of the T.V. drama that depicts a group of women using a nail salon to launder money from an illicit drug operation.

Last week, as camera crews setup along O’Keefe Avenue in the CBD to begin filming, Karrueche Tran, who plays the role of Virginia Loc, was spotted at a convenience store on Julia Street in the Warehouse District. She was described as being very humble and chatted with an adoring young woman who worked in the store and a curious shopper. Karrueche told them that she had a sweet-tooth and was seen buying a caramel flavored bar of "Chocolove" dark chocolate.

Many viewers are smitten with Karrueche’s role and regard her as the show’s star. In “Claws,” Virginia Loc is scandalous - a stripper turned manicurist who has affairs with unsavory men, including her boss’ drug dealer boyfriend and autistic brother. Actress Niecy Nash plays the role of crime boss & “queen-pin” Desna Simms. Sightings of Karrueche in NOLA have led some local fans to speculate that TNT will not kill off her character, despite a season 3 teaser clip showing Virginia being shot in front of Harrah’s Casino by masked gunmen on a motorcycle.

In some ways, life really imitates art, as Karrueche has herself had a string of recent relationships ranging from bad boy R&B singer Chris Brown, to male model Nyle DiMarco, to NFL player Victor Cruz. In a very public and messy breakup, a judge granted Karrueche a five-year restraining order against Brown in 2017. Karrueche testified in court that Brown allegedly punched her in the stomach while they were dating and sent her threatening text messages.

Though Karrueche has made some cameo appearances in NOLA, Niecy Nash has become a fixture downtown and is believed to own a condo and live part of the year in New Orleans.
