“WVUE’s Rob Krieger Gets ‘Cold Feet’ Over Reporting Tabloid’s Story”

We have all seen him on WVUE Fox 8 News. Rob Krieger is a reporter that normally covers human interest stories and fills in part-time at the anchor’s desk. Occasionally, Krieger will report on a serious news story or breaking news.

However, Krieger apparently got “cold feet” over reporting on a hot-button news story provided to him by “The NOLA Tabloid.” At first, Krieger was all-in and eager to do an investigative news story that “The NOLA Tabloid” uncovered regarding the spouses of local, elected officials that operate “DBE’s” in New Orleans. The “DBE’s,” or disadvantaged business enterprises, then obtain lucrative contracts from the City of New Orleans and other local government agencies.

Krieger asked for documents obtained by “The NOLA Tabloid” and said that he was going to confer with WVUE’s investigative reporter Lee Zurik on the story. After receiving the requested documentation via e-mail and several telephone conversations later, Krieger suddenly backed-off from the story and stopped responding to “The NOLA Tabloid.”

It is anyone’s guess as to why Krieger, Zurik, or WVUE dropped the bombshell story. Perhaps the influential names involved in the “DBE’s,” such as the spouses of Orleans Civil District Court Judges Kern Reese & Ellen Hazeur, dissuaded Krieger and WVUE from moving forward.
