“Road Rage Incident in NOLA’s CBD Lands Angry Man on Car’s Hood”
“That’s too much excitement for a Tuesday night.” “We thought it was a joke when they first pulled-up.” Those were some of the comments made by witnesses and bystanders Tuesday night, October 16, at around 9:25 pm, after observing a man riding down Poydras Street on the hood of a silver Toyota hatchback.
The man was yelling and very upset, as he screamed for help and asked anyone who could hear him to call police. Oddly enough, the man was holding a cell phone during the ordeal and said that he was speaking with a 911 dispatcher.
The car was driven by a woman, who eventually pulled over in front of the Staybridge Suites Hotel at 501 Tchoupitoulas Street in the Central Business District. Hotel staff quickly came outside to the sounds of the ruckus.
Shortly after stopping, a State Police SUV pulled alongside the Toyota. A trooper got out and instructed the man to get off of the car. The woman then opened the car’s door and began crying.
A second man then arrived on foot and said that he has a video of the incident on his phone. He claimed that the woman struck his friend with her car blocks away near the federal building and tried to leave the scene. The woman claimed that the two men were walking in the area and vandalized her car when she stopped at a red light.
It is unclear what action State Police took or if any arrests were made.
