“Canadians Cheer For NOLA’s Burlesque Queen Winner”
Canadians are typically a reserved crowd. Yet, that reserved demeanor was recently stripped away when a Canadian woman won the title “Queen of Burlesque” in New Orleans. The New Orleans Burlesque Festival is going strong in its 10th year and has become an international event.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported October 2, 2018, on its website, www.cbc.ca, about a Canadian native Lauren Jiles, who goes by the stage name “Lou Lou la Duchesse de Riere,” that won the competition by beating out a crowd of experienced striptease performers at the Civic Theater in downtown NOLA. Jiles stole the show with an elaborate spider-woman-like costume and huge wings.
According to her social media profiles, Jiles is happily married to Donovan Danhausen and studied law at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Jiles can be found on Facebook @ Lauren Ashley Jiles and on Instagram @ loulouladuchesse.
