“Another Non-Profit Tied to NOPD Chief’s Wife Awarded $10K City Grant”

Yesterday, “The NOLA Tabloid” reported on NOPD Chief Michael Harrison’s wife, Cheryletta Harrison, receiving a $27,000 contract from the City of New Orleans through the non-profit megachurch, The City of Love, Inc., which she is the chief executive officer of.

In addition to this city contract, on March 6, 2018, another religious non-profit tied to Harrison’s wife, Love Impact, Inc., received a $10,000 “Wisner Grant” from the City of New Orleans. Harrison’s wife is listed as the vice president of Love Impact, Inc., according to the organization’s filing on the Secretary of State’s website. Bishop Lester Love is listed as the president of both The City of Love, Inc. & Love Impact, Inc.

The “cooperative endeavor agreement” awarding Love Impact, Inc. the grant was signed by the organization’s executive director, Tia Robertson, and former Mayor Mitch Landrieu. The agreement was even approved by the City’s law department and signed-off by Assistant City Attorney Ashley Becnel.

Yet, despite this grant being awarded, NOPD Chief Michael Harrison failed to list his wife’s role as vice president of Love Impact, Inc. on his latest “financial disclosure form,” dated May 15, 2018. However, Chief Harrison did disclose his wife’s position as CEO of City of Love and his annual income from the City of New Orleans at $161,219.13.
