“NOPD Chief’s Wife Awarded $27K in City Contract Through Non-Profit”

There’s a saying in business that “contacts” equal “contracts” and that saying may very well describe the case for Cheryletta Harrison, the wife of NOPD Chief Michael Harrison.

According to the City of New Orleans’ purchasing & procurement website, www.purchasing.cityofno.com, Harrison’s wife signed a “cooperative endeavor agreement” on behalf of a religious non-profit, The City of Love, Inc., on April 4, 2018, in the amount of $27,000. The agreement lists Harrison's wife as the non-profit’s chief executive officer and is also signed by Deputy Mayor Judy Reese Morse, on behalf of former Mayor Mitch Landrieu.

The City of Love, Inc. is a megachurch at 8601 Palmetto Street in New Orleans and is headed by the charismatic Bishop Lester Love. The $27,000 contract is for The City of Love to provide a six-week, youth summer camp called “CAMP IMPACT!” through the NORD program.

Chief Harrison's most recent "financial disclosure statement," dated May 15, 2018, lists his annual salary from the City of New Orleans as $161,219.13.
